Eric Moreland and the Toronto Raptors have reached agreement on a one-year, partially guaranteed deal, per Mike Scotto of The Athletic. Teams are looking to round out their rosters as training camp approaches.

There's a good chance Moreland joins the 905 Raptors, Toronto's G League affiliate, if he doesn't make the roster for Toronto. There may be no better organization to have the G League as a fallback plan. The 905 Raptors are a breeding ground for role players and have done a fantastic job developing its young talent.

Moreland spent last season with the Detroit Pistons and appeared in 67 games. He was a fringe rotational player for the Pistons and only played around 12 minutes per game. He only notched 2.1 points per game, but he showed the ability to rack up rebounds with 4.1 per game.

The 6-foot-10 forward could add to the frontcourt depth of Toronto's roster. It's unlikely that Moreland jumps into the heart of the rotation, but he's a nice safety valve to have in case of injury and a decent replacement for Lucas Nogueira.

Jonas Valanciunas, Serge Ibaka, Greg Monroe, and Pascal Siakam should get the bulk of the minutes at center and power forward. Not to mention, the Raptors can go small with OG Anunoby and the newly acquired Kawhi Leonard as power forwards in smaller lineups.

Moreland will have an opportunity to secure a spot on the Raptors, but he faces stiff competition among the players Toronto has already invested in. But even if he doesn't make Toronto's roster, the 905 Raptors are a decent backup plan.
