Pascal Siakam has been sensational for the Toronto Raptors this season, and so it's not surprising to hear from his teammate Fred VanVleet that Siakam is his ‘favorite player' in the NBA.

Siakam is the frontrunner to win the Most Improved Player of the Year award, and he has solidified himself as the second-best player on the Raptors behind Kawhi Leonard. In fact, in Game 1 of the NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors, the 25 year-old forward scored 32 points on 82 percent shooting to help his team secure a 118-109 victory.

VanVleet is certainly impressed with Siakam, and he showed his admiration for him in his presser ahead of Game 2, saying that he loves playing alongside the Cameroonian forward.

Siakam has cemented himself as the Raptors' cornerstone in case Leonard leaves the team after their Finals run. In his three years in the league, he has shown significant improvement not just in statistical production, but also in terms of playing the game itself. He already knows when to step up and when to take a backseat, and there is no doubt that he will be an integral part of the team's long-term future.

As for VanVleet, he's playing great as well. After struggling in the first two rounds of the playoffs, he seemed to have found his groove in the Eastern Conference Finals. If he continues to be more consistent on the floor, there is no doubt that he will become a vital piece for the Raptors moving forward.

Both players are starting to make their presence felt in the league. It will be interesting to see if they can maintain the level of play that they're in now for the rest of the Finals series.
