NBA Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen says Kawhi Leonard should stay with the Toronto Raptors for one more year.

Leonard becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer. Yahoo Sports' Chris Haynes reported on Sunday Leonard will decline his 2019-20 player option with the Raptors, but that the two-time Finals MVP is strongly considering staying in Toronto.

Pippen believes Leonard should sign a one-plus-one deal with the Raptors, which would allow Kawhi to try and win another title with the Raptors next season and enter free agency again in the summer of 2020.

“It looks like a one-year deal to stay in Toronto would be a great deal for him,” Pippen said on ESPN's The Jump. “Have an opportunity to go back and play with your teammates and not really leave them hanging. I think they're all looking forward to trying to defend this title. So, I would say a one-year deal to stay.”

Leonard could sign a two-year, $70 million deal with the Raptors this offseason and become a free agent in 2020. The Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers will pursue Kawhi this summer, but they will also be there in 2020 if Leonard decides to stay in Toronto.

The Raptors can offer Leonard the most money in free agency. The three-time All-Star and two-time Defensive Player of the Year is going to be the most sought-after free agent this summer.  Raptors fans are praying Leonard comes back for at least one more season so the team has an opportunity to defend its title.
