Kawhi Leonard is the biggest star in the NBA right now, so it's no wonder why someone paid $50,000 to get a game-worn jersey of the Toronto Raptors star.

The NBA auctioned the Leonard's NBA Finals Game 1 jersey following the team's historic title run in the 2019 playoffs. Details of the winner (name, whereabouts, etc.) were not revealed, but it is clear that that person is either a die-hard Leonard or Raptors fan.

However, it's hard to blame the winning bidder for wanting a piece of history.

Leonard was sensational throughout the course of the 2018-19 season, particularly in the playoffs during which he led the Raptors in pulling off one of the biggest upsets in NBA history against the  Golden State Warriors.

Raptors fans have built an emotional connection with Leonard despite the fact that he's only been with the team for one season. There is a possibility that the two-time champion could leave this summer, as he could decline his player option and enter free agency.

There are reports that Leonard could join the Los Angeles Lakers or the Los Angeles Clippers this summer. However, there are also speculations around the league that he might be willing to sign a short-term deal with the Raptors and help them defend the title next season.

Regardless of what Kawhi's decision this summer is, he has already cemented his legacy as one of the best players in the league today. He's the first player in NBA history to win Finals MVP in both the Eastern and Western Conference, and he has successfully prevented two franchises from achieving the elusive ‘three-peat.'

So for someone who is a die-hard NBA fan and can afford to spend, getting Kawhi's Game 1 jersey is a no-brainer.
