The Toronto Raptors take on the Miami Heat on Sunday in South Beach and Raptors star small forward Kawhi Leonard will not play.

Leonard is out due to everyone's new favorite injury term: load management.

The Raptors face the lowly Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday, so it makes sense the organization is resting Leonard in Miami since it's a back-to-back situation.

The Raptors are 47-19 on the season. They have the second-best record in the Eastern Conference.

In 48 games this season, Kawhi Leonard is averaging 27.1 points, 7.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists per contest. The three-time All-Star and two-time Defensive Player of the Year is shooting 49.7 percent from the field, 35.3 percent from beyond the arc and 86.7 percent from the free-throw line.

After what happened last year with Leonard and the San Antonio Spurs, the Raptors have been cautious with Kawhi all season. After all, Toronto needs Leonard to be healthy and fresh for the playoffs if they want to advance to the NBA Finals for the first time in franchise history.

Raptors head coach Nick Nurse recently said he doesn't envision sitting out his players that much to close out the season.

After Sunday's game against the Heat, Toronto has 15 games left in the regular season.
