When you're a rookie in the NBA, you have no choice but to go through some sort of initiation ritual. This was exactly the case for Malachi Flynn and Freddie Gillespie of the Toronto Raptors. Unfortunately for them, they have a guy like Kyle Lowry as their vet, and the six-time All-Star made sure that their rookies' hazing moment was one for the books.

Here's a look at Flynn and Gillespie's truly cringeworthy version of Miley Cyrus' “Party in the USA”:

That was some funny stuff right there. You could see how serious Kyle Lowry was when he was giving his instructions to the rookies, who were both clearly feeling a bit nervous prior to their number. Once the beat started though, Flynn and Gillespie went all out.

We need to give a lot of credit to Gillespie in particular here. He got into it pretty quickly and by the end of the song, he was dancing all over the place. He definitely got his Raptors teammates going, too.

More important than how the rooks butchered Miley's awesome song is the fact that this was a great showing of team camaraderie by the Raptors. It's not often that we get to see these guys outside the basketball court goofing around, so it was definitely a welcome change of pace.

Let's just hope this team-building, morale-boosting activity makes some sort of impact on the team and their performances on the hardwood. All hope is not yet lost for the Raptors at this point, as they still have a shot at the playoffs. They are the winners of four straight games, so maybe a postseason berth is still in the books for the 2019 champs.
