Toronto Raptors point guard Kyle Lowry is targeting Dec. 1 for his return to the lineup, according to head coach Nick Nurse.

Lowry sustained a fracture of the distal phalanx of his left thumb back on Nov. 8 against the New Orleans Pelicans.

Lowry played in eight games this season for the Raptors before getting hurt. He is averaging 21.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 6.5 assists while shooting 47.8 percent from the field, 42.6 percent from beyond the arc and 88.1 percent from the free-throw line.

The Raptors are 10-4 on the season, good for fourth place in the Eastern Conference standings.

Lowry averaged 14.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 8.7 assists during the 2018-19 regular-season while shooting 41.1 percent from the field, 34.7 percent from beyond the arc and 83.0 percent from the free-throw line.

In the 2019 playoffs, Lowry put up 15.0 points, 4.9 rebounds and 6.6 assists. The Raptors defeated the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals in six games.

Not a lot of people are giving the Raptors a chance to repeat as champions this season since Kawhi Leonard is gone. That's fine with Toronto, a team which loves to be counted out. Once Lowry returns to the lineup, the Raptors will once again be an elite team to deal with. The fact that they have gone 4-2 since Lowry went down is impressive.
