To start off their home contests against the Dallas Mavericks, the Toronto Raptors let OG Anunoby go to work on the wing. The 24-year-old forward made the most of his opportunity, scoring the game's first basket by crossing up Luka Doncic and dunking on Kristaps Porzingis.

Anunoby scored a team-high 23 points on 9-15 shooting to go along with four rebounds, two steals and two blocks in the game. The Mavericks got the last laugh, though, winning 103-95 behind Doncic's 27 points, 12 assists and nine rebounds. Porzingis recorded 18 points and 10 rebounds.

Toronto will be looking and hoping for more moments like this from Anunoby, a popular pick to win the NBA's Most Improved Player award. His defensive talents are obvious and his ability to score has gotten better every year he has been in the league. With franchise icon Kyle Lowry gone, Anunoby is expected to help lead the Raptors in the future as the franchise rebuilds.

While this play doesn't have much significance for the Mavericks since they won the game anyway, it highlights their need for defense. Doncic becoming a better on-ball defender would help but it isn't crucial, given that he's a one-man offense who is already a top-10 talent in the league.

The more worrisome part of this sequence is Porzingis' inability to stop Anunoby. Despite being in the paint multiple seconds before the Raptors' youngster is and having eight inches of height advantage, he can't prevent the dunk. After trading for Porzingis at the 2019 trade deadline, the former New York Knick has struggled to be a worthy co-star to Doncic.
