The Toronto Raptors will have to take a hard look at their roster this offseason after being swept out of the postseason for a second straight season. Among the likely candidates to find a new destination is the freshly-signed Kyle Lowry, who committed to return in a three-year, $100 million deal last summer.

According to league executives, Lowry is the most likely candidate to be moved, as the All-Star point guard still has two years and $65 million remaining in his deal.

“If anything does happen with that roster, Lowry is probably the guy who makes the most sense,” a league executive told Sean Deveney of The Sporting News. “He can be hard-headed, that was always his reputation, but he seems to have mellowed out now that he’s older. He’s tough and he has two years left on the contract, which makes it easy to take, especially if you can get rid of a bad deal on your books. I think that is what Toronto is going to be looking at with him and of all the possibilities, that’s the most likely.”

Any trade scenario for Lowry would involve being willing to eat a bad contract, given that he will make $31 million this season before making a backloaded $33.3 million in his last season.

The Raptors would likely be looking to aim at another point guard to pair with DeMar DeRozan, the likes of Kemba Walker, Eric Bledsoe, or Goran Dragic — three different floor generals that could give Toronto a revitalized look for next season.
