DeMar DeRozan shared some heartfelt thoughts on last season, a tough one due to his transition after being traded to the San Antonio Spurs, yet still rewarding in a way. The All-Star guard told former Toronto Raptors teammate Pascal Siakam how great it was to see he and others win it all.

Now in isolation, the former Raptors star caught up with Siakam on Instagram Live, sharing his feelings about it all (video via u/EarthWarping):

“My favorite players that I've seen grow is definitely you, Freddie (VanVleet), Norm (Powell),” said DeRozan. “You feel me? My rookie year, I wish I would have played with Chris (Bosh) longer. I only played with Chris my rookie year … To see y'all come in and see what y'all did, that was the best shit ever … That's what it is bro, the camaraderie we always had was something else, that was a major part of it.”

DeRozan might not have been happy with how Raptors president Masai Ujiri handled his exit, but he surely didn't resent any of his teammates or the city and its fans for it.

While many think it would have been tough for DeRozan to watch the team that traded him win it all with the player he was traded for, it seems he was just happy to see his former Raptors teammates be rewarded for their growth.

Toronto still has nothing but love for DeRozan, who wore the jersey for nine years and re-signed with the team in a split second, without really considering his hometown Los Angeles Lakers.

That commitment might not have been paid back by the franchise, but it seems he has nothing but love for Siakam and all his former teammates. Siakam has developed into an All-Star, and the Raptors are still flourishing even without Kawhi Leonard in town.
