The Cleveland Browns made one serious statement on Friday, but as it turns out, the noise didn't stop in The Land as it concerned the AFC North.

According to a source with knowledge of the situation per Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, the only other suitors for the services of then-Miami Dolphins wide receiver were the Baltimore Ravens. Other teams such as the New York Jets were in the mix too, but Baltimore represented the only serious threat.

Of course, the Browns turned out to win the Landry sweepstakes while only surrendering two draft picks (fourth and seventh round).

One has to wonder what the Ravens actually offered. Though he's entering the final year of his rookie deal, the Browns and Landry's camp are already working on a long-term deal, reportedly. If a fourth and seventh-round selection was all it took land Odell Beckham Jr.'s former LSU teammate, how close were the Ravens?

Now, suddenly teamed with the always explosive Josh Gordon and quite possibly Saquon Barkley, Landry and the Browns offense looks pretty damn potent on paper.

In 2017, Landry, 25, hauled in a league-leading 112 receptions for 987 yards and nine scores. His yards per catch represented the lowest of his career at 8.8, but that's his game. He's a hard-nosed over-the-middle and underneath guy who the quarterback can always rely on per pre-snap reads and matchups.

In 2018, Jarvis Landry will be aiming for his fourth straight Pro Bowl nod.
