Real Madrid urged to not sign Kylian Mbappe for one reason
Following Kylian Mbappe’s latest interview on his PSG future, it almost feels inevitable that he will leave the Parc des Princes next summer for Real Madrid. However, Italian manager Fabio Capello, who has coached Los Blancos, AC Milan, Roma, and England, is urging the club to look elsewhere. Why you ask? Well, he believes they need more reinforcements at the back, not in the final third.
They’ll need time to build a strong team, Real Madrid need a couple of central defenders.
“I saw them against Mallorca… Mamma mia! [But] up front they have no problems, even without Mbappe. They have interesting players.”
He certainly does have a point. Although Carlo Ancelotti’s side does sit at the top of the La Liga table, they’ve been rather unimpressive defensively, conceding 10 times in eight games. Real Madrid suffered a shocking 2-1 defeat to Espanyol prior to the international break while also losing by the same scoreline to Moldovan outfit Sheriff in the Champions League last week in one of the most historic upsets ever.
Up top though, despite the lack of finishing across the last two matches, there have been zero problems. Los Blancos have already bagged 22 La Liga goals, with Karim Benzema and Vinicius Junior forming a lethal duo. The Frenchman has netted nine times and tallied seven assists, while the Brazilian has five goals to his name.
Clearly, their problems do not lie in the attack. Real Madrid will likely chase Mbappe’s signature anyway, but, they should also explore the possibility of strengthening their backline in the next two transfer windows.
