The Boston Red Sox got on the wrong end of history on Sunday afternoon after another embarrassing defeat at the hands of the New York Yankees.

For the second straight game, the Yankees destroyed the Red Sox, 13-2. It followed New York's Saturday win that saw them obliterate Boston, 14-1. With that, Rafael Devers and his team have now gone 0-10-1 in series against their fellow AL East teams.

Yes, the Red Sox haven't won a series against their division rivals, marking the first time in franchise history that they will head into the All-Star break with such a disappointing record, per ESPN Stats & Info.

The trend is certainly concerning for the Red Sox. If they can't dominate in their division, how can they even dream of competing for the World Series title? By the looks of it, some changes might be needed if Boston wants to turn things around.

However, Red Sox manager Alex Cora doesn't think the roster is the issue. After their latest defeat, he highlighted how his players simply need to step up to string wins together and get things really rolling for the team.

“We need help from the people here. It really doesn’t matter. We can talk about [trades] or whatever. The guys that are here are capable and they have to be better,” Cora shared.

The MLB trade deadline is coming up, so the Red Sox don't have a lot of time to decide whether or not they want to tinker with their roster. Considering their recent performances, though, it's becoming increasingly clear that some changes need to be made.
