The Detroit Red Wings have had a busy start to free agency, bringing in a handful of key players to help them get back into the playoffs. Among the big additions to Detroit's roster on Day 1 of free agency include David Perron, Dominik Kubalik, and Ben Chiarot.

Perron joins the Red Wings on a two-year deal, per Renaud Lavoie, that will see him pocket $9.5 million throughout its duration, at an average annual value of $4.75M. The former St. Louis Blues forward is coming off an excellent 2021-22 season that saw him register 57 points in 67 games. The 34-year-old scored 27 goals, the second most of his career, while providing 30 assists.

Kubalik will also be joining the franchise on a two-year deal. The 26-year-old will make $5 million over the course of his stay in Detroit at an AAV of $2.5 million. The former Blackhawk was one of many Chicago players to leave the team this offseason, and he'll land on his feet as part of a young Red Wings setup where he'll look to carve out a role among their bottom six forwards.

As for Chiarot, the 31-year-old will be a significant addition to Detroit's defense. Making $4.75 million per season over the next three years, Chiarot is now the highest-paid defender in the Red Wings' ranks, and he'll serve as a veteran presence alongside Calder Trophy winner Moritz Seider. Chiarot will pocket $14.25 million throughout his tenure in Detroit.

In addition to the signings of Chiariot, Perron, and Kubalik, the Red Wings also added star forward Andrew Copp who was coming off a prolific stint with the New York Rangers.
