When the Washington Redskins drafted Stanford running back Bryce Love with the No. 112 pick, it didn’t make sense to some. Running back Derrius Guice seemed surprised that the Redskins took a running back at all.

Taking to Twitter shortly after Love was drafted (via 247 Sports), Guice simply added an emoji that clearly shows he was not pleased about the team adding yet another running back to the depth chart.

While Love is a talented running back, Washington is already overflowing with depth at the position. Besides Derrius Guice, Washington already has Adrian Peterson, Chris Thompson, and Samaje Perine on the depth chart. With Love now joining that, it stands to reason the training camp competition among the running backs will be fierce. It wouldn’t be shocking to see Washington try to move one of those backs before the season begins.

Of course, one possible reason for the team drafting a running back could be the overall health of the unit. Both Love and Guice are currently rehabbing from ACL injuries, so Washington could simply be stashing a ton of premium talent in case of emergency, especially with Adrian Peterson also having a history of injuries.

Regardless of the reasoning, Love is on the team now. As the offseason begins to start, we’ll find out what the team has planned for its large amount of talent in the running back room.
