Since the Washington Redskins made the decision earlier this week to bring aboard recently released second-year linebacker Reuben Foster, it has caught plenty of attention around the league.

The team has decided to claim a player that has now been involved in multiple instances where it is dealing with domestic violence. With that said, senior vice president of player personnel Doug Williams has voiced that he believes this situation is small compared to other issues in the country, according to Scott Allen of the Washington Post.

“Oh yeah, we knew that was going to happen, and like I said, rightfully so with all the stuff that is going on in this country,” Williams said. “We’ve got people who are in high, high, high, high places that have done far worse, and if you look at it realistically, they’re still up there. This is small potatoes [compared to] a lot of things out there. But at the same time it’s a big issue in America today, whether or not it’s in football, whether or not it’s in everyday life, whether or not it’s in politics, it’s out there.”

It may not be something that impacts the United States, but it is certainly one that affects the image of the NFL and more importantly the woman's life involved in the situation. She is dealing with an inexcusable situation where Foster has now been involved in multiple domestic violence incidents. This one has the chance of becoming worse with it being the second go-around along with more action allegedly being taken by him.

This is also isn't just an issue that impacts the NFL as there are many instances across the country where women are involved in situations similar to this. What it does is bring more awareness to issues like this while that continue to happen on a daily basis.

There are many layers to this issue that go far beyond the Redskins giving Foster potentially another chance to continue his NFL career.
