The Washington Redskins have not encountered a ton of good fortune over the years with the struggling NFC East franchise not receiving any additional help over the weekend. According to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office, the son of Redskins head coach Jay Gruden, Jack Gruden, was arrested early Saturday morning in Ashburn, Virginia.

“Jay Gruden's 22-year-old son, Jack, was arrested early Saturday morning at the One Loudoun shopping center in Ashburn, Virginia and charged with being drunk in public, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office,” via NBC Sports Washington. “Around 2:15 a.m., a deputy observed a confrontation that involved Gruden and another male, per the Sherriff's Office. The two separated, but Gruden pursued the other person to continue the argument.”

The Redskins have since released a formal statement regarding the matter as well.

“We are aware of the arrest of Jack Gruden,” said Redskins senior vice president of communications, Tony Wyllie, via NBC Sports Washington. “We are gathering more information and will not comment until we have further details.”

On the football field, Jay Gruden's Redskins failed to reach the postseason once again in 2018-19. Finishing the most recent regular season at a nearly even 7-9, the Redskins were ravaged by injuries en route to finishing in third place in the NFC East standings behind both the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles.

The last time the Redskins reached the playoffs was back in 2015-16, which resulted in an immediate loss in the Wild Card round at the hands of the Green Bay Packers.
