The general consensus is that the Arizona Cardinals will be taking University of Oklahoma quarterback Kyler Murray with the first overall pick of the NFL Draft later this month, but that won't stop other quarterback-hungry teams from doing their due diligence.

Take the Washington Redskins, for example.

According to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, Murray will meet with the Redskins next week.

Washington owns the 15th overall pick of the first round, so it seems unlikely that the Redskins would be able to land Murray. They have been rumored to be interesting in trading up, but even then, Murray would have to slide past the Cardinals, which does not seem all that probable.

The Redskins certainly have a rocky quarterback situation at the moment, as Case Keenum and Colt McCoy are currently set to battle it out for the starting job under center with Alex Smith likely to miss the entire 2019 campaign as he recovers from a gruesome broken leg injury.

Murray is coming off of a spectacular junior campaign in which he threw for 4,361 yards, 42 touchdowns, and seven interceptions while completing 69 percent of his passes and registering a passer rating of 199.2.

In addition, Murray rushed for 1,001 yards and 12 scores.

A multi-sport athlete, the 21-year-old was also selected by the Oakland Athletics in the first round of the MLB Draft last June, but he seems to be leaning toward playing football.

Washington won just seven games this past season and missed the playoffs three years in a row. The Redskins have qualified for the postseason just twice since 2008.
