The Washington Redskins' relationship with Trent Williams doesn't seem to be getting any better. That's why they signed Donald Penn and that's why they're apparently shopping the left tackle, according to Jeff Howe of The Athletic.

This is something you probably wouldn't have imagined not all that long ago. Trent Williams is the best offensive lineman the Washington Redskins have had in a long time and one of the elites of the NFL. However, things have gone sour quickly and it seems like Williams may have already played his last game in Burgundy and Gold.

Now, maybe things can still work out somehow. It's irresponsible to say the relationship is definitely over because anything can happen.

That being said, clearly the chances of Williams sticking with Washington much longer are low. Donald Penn is a fantastic replacement and you'd imagine the Redskins could get a ton in return for Williams.

It's very likely that they're just seeing what they can get at the moment. If someone offers up a juicy enough trade package, they pull the trigger. However, if no team comes with a proper offer, the Redskins can always go back to trying to repair the relationship.

For now, it appears things aren't moving on the contract or medical staff or whatever is dividing Trent Williams and the Washington Redskins right now. It might hurt some fans to hear, but that means a trade might be the best option. If Washington can get multiple picks and/or some solid talent at a position of need – they need to consider it.

It's better than waiting around for Williams contract to expire and end up getting nothing out of it.
