In the wake of linebacker Reuben Foster tearing his ACL at organized team activities, the Washington Redskins have signed fellow linebacker Jon Bostic, according to the team.

Bostic spent the 2018 campaign with the Pittsburgh Steelers and played in all 16 games, registering 73 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and three forced fumbles.

The 28-year-old, who played his collegiate football at the University of Florida, was originally selected by the Chicago Bears in the second round (50th pick overall) of the 2013 NFL Draft.

He proceeded to appear in all 16 contests during his rookie year, totaling 57 tackles, a couple of sacks, an interception, and a fumble recovery. Bostic then participated in 13 games during his second season, finishing with 83 tackles and three passes defended.

The Bears then traded Bostic to the New England Patriots in September 2015, but he had a very limited role that ensuing season, logging just one tackle.

Then, that offseason, the Patriots dealt Bostic to the Detroit Lions, but he did not play in a single game with the Lions in 2016 as a result of hitting the injured reserve list with a foot injury.

Continuing his journey around the NFL, Bostic went on to sign with the Indianapolis Colts in April 2017 and had a bounce-back year, recording 97 tackles, a sack, and a fumble recovery in 14 games.

Now, with Foster down, Bostic will get a rather significant opportunity for the Redskins.

Washington won just seven games and missed the playoffs this past season, marking their third straight year without a trip to the postseason. Overall, the Redskins have made the playoffs just five times since 1993.
