Free agent point guard Donald Sloan has agreed to a one-year deal with the Washington Wizards, according to Shams Charania of The Vertical.

Sloan, a five-year veteran of the league should prove as another option to back up All-Star point guard John Wall after the acquisition of Tim Frazier, who was traded by the New Orleans Pelicans for the 52nd overall pick of the draft.

The 6-foot-3 journeyman proved most effective last season, garnering 33 starts in 60 games for the Brooklyn Nets, averaging 7.0 points and 4.4 assists through the season, shooting 44 percent from the floor and 38.4 percent from the three-point line.

Sloan has played for five teams during his five seasons in the league, using his last stints with the Nets and the Indiana Pacers as a springboard to remain in the league, despite the thin point guard market this offseason.

The Wizards could opt to move him to the shooting guard position and keep Tomas Satoransky as a tall matchup for bigger point guards, giving Sloan the freedom to spot up and shoot it from deep, which proved effective for him last season.

Washington would be a player over the roster limit with his signing, making a consequent move the most likely of outcomes after agreeing to terms with the Texas A&M alum.
