Before the 73-9 Golden State Warriors blew a three games to one series lead in the NBA Finals, rumors were already floating around about Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant possibly joining forces with the Dubs as soon as next season.

It seemed a little ridiculous at the time given the Warriors' cap situation and the parade of stars that they already have. Most pundits figure KD will remain with the Thunder at least for one more year, and he has no shortage of other suitors bidding for his services.

Now that the Warriors have fallen short of their goal of repeating as champions, it's time for the franchise to look forward to next season. Seemingly motivated by the loss, owner Joe Lacob is going to pull out all of the stops to make the Warriors champions once again, including doing everything in his power to bring Durant to the Bay Area.

According to Marc Stein of ESPN, the Warriors are “going all the way in” with their pursuit of Kevin Durant.

From Stein:

“All I can say,” [Warriors owner Joe] Lacob offered on his way out of the building Sunday night, “is that I will be very aggressive.”

Translation: KD Recruiting Season starts at the first allowable minute.

Harrison Barnes struggled immensely from the wing for the Dubs in the Finals; Warriors fans can only dream of how different this series would've gone had Durant been the one in that spot.

All of this feels a little strange given that less than a month ago, Durant was competing in a fierce battle for the Western Conference crown against the Warriors with the team he's spent his entire career with. For the sake of competition, it would be better for the NBA if Durant stayed in OKC, or at least went somewhere other than Golden State. But, he has stated this his decision will be a basketball one, with winning being his top priority.

Regardless of what eventually happens, the drama around Kevin's impending free agency has reached an all-time high now that summer has arrived. Buckle up, folks.
