New Houston Rockets big man Christian Wood thinks he can be a good second option for James Harden, causing some to speculate if the high-flyer knows something about a possible Russell Westbrook trade.

Westbrook, like Harden, has reportedly requested a trade from the Rockets.

Houston is holding out hope that Harden changes his mind about his trade request, while the team is having trouble finding a trade market for Westbrook.

If the Rockets start the 2020-21 season with both James Harden and Russell Westbrook on the team, Christian Wood is going to be the third option on offense, not the second.

With the Detroit Pistons in 2019-20, Wood averaged 13.1 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.0 assists per game while shooting 56.7 percent from the field, 38.6 percent from beyond the arc and 74.4 percent from the free-throw line. He was acquired by Clutch City in a sign-and-trade deal with Detroit.

The Rockets, who lost to the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2020 Western Conference Semifinals in five games, have a new head coach and general manager after Mike D'Antoni and Daryl Morey left the franchise. There's a lot of uncertainty in Houston right now, as no one knows if Westbrook or Harden are going to be on the team once training camp starts.

The 2020-21 season begins on Dec. 22, so training camp is almost here. It's going to be very interesting to see what the Rockets do with Harden and Westbrook.
