After reaching a contract extension with the Houston Rockets, Eric Gordon is now shifting his focus to helping the team win the NBA title.

Gordon reached a four-year, $76 million extension with Houston, though the fourth year of his contract is not guaranteed. He needs to make an All-Star team or help the Rockets win a championship to get the full $20.9 million in the final year of his extension — something which should give him more motivation to elevate the team.

“It's very special. It's definitely exciting. I'm all about team success and me being a big part of that,” Gordon told Mark Berman of FOX 26 Houston. “They know my work ethic. They know my kind of leadership and what I bring to the table. Ownership wants to win.”

The Rockets lost in the 2019 Western Conference semifinals against the Golden State Warriors; however, they reloaded this offseason, trading Chris Paul and future picks to the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for superstar guard Russell Westbrook.

Now, the Rockets seem intent on going with the core of Gordon, Westbrook and James Harden in their quest to reach and win the NBA Finals for the first time since 1995.

The Rockets are now in championship-or-bust territory, and they know they have to get the job done this time around.
