Houston Rockets All-Star James Harden is jumping into the soccer market. According to a report from FOX 26 in Houston, the two-time scoring champion has joined the ownership group of the Houston Dynamo (MLS) and Houston Dash (NWSL) franchises:
According to NBA sources Houston Rockets superstar James Harden has joined the ownership group of the Houston Dynamo and Houston Dash franchises.
An official announcement that Harden is the newest member of the group is expected soon.
Harden joins a group of owners, led by Gabriel Brener, who is the majority owner of the Dynamo and Dash. At this point, it is not known what percentage Harden will hold. According to FOX 26, he is not being added to replace anyone on the ownership team.
Harden, now 29 years of age, is coming off another great season with the Rockets. In 78 appearances, the former No. 3 overall pick racked up averages of 36.1 points on 44.2 percent shooting from the field (36.8 percent from beyond the arc), 7.5 assists, 6.6 rebounds and 2.0 steals in 36.8 minutes per outing.
Harden and the Rockets finished the 2018-19 regular season with a 53-29 overall record, which earned the team a No. 4 seed in the Western Conference. Unfortunately, though, Houston was defeated by the Golden State Warriors in the second round, 4-2.
The Rockets just traded for Russell Westbrook, reuniting him with Harden. It has clearly been an eventful offseason for the 2018 NBA MVP.
