The Houston Rockets lost their second straight game after bowing down to the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday night. Despite this, however, head coach Mike D'Antoni remains confident that his team can “right the ship.”

Per Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle, D'Antoni noted that keeping a winning momentum is a “delicate” thing in the NBA. They were on a winning tear just a few weeks ago but their fortune suddenly shifted in the last two games.

“We’ll get back. Every ship gets rocked sometimes. We’re getting rocked right now. To weeks ago, if you asked, we were in a great place. It’s that delicate of a thing. You have to be careful. But we have veterans that will right the ship,” D'Antoni said.

The Rockets currently sport a 26-14 record for fifth in the West. This is not exactly the place they want to be given that just a few seasons ago, they were just a win away from a trip to the NBA Finals.

However, history shows that the Rockets — comprised of savvy veterans like PJ Tucker and Eric Gordon — have the power and will to motivate the entire squad. James Harden and Russell Westbrook, too, have been through a lot and their experience will be useful whenever the team goes through rough times.

The Rockets have a chance to snap their two-game skid on Saturday when they host the Los Angeles Lakers. It will be a battle between two Western titans.

Both teams are coming off of defeats, with the Lakers snapping their winning streak after falling to the Orlando Magic, 119-118.

For the Rockets, a win over the best team in the West is a reminder that they are still well within the title radar, contrary to what the critics have been whispering behind their backs.
