Rockets coach Mike D’Antoni hopeful Clint Capela (virus) will be 100 percent in Game 5 vs. Jazz
Houston Rockets center Clint Capela has been trying to play through a virus during the Rockets’ first round series against the Utah Jazz. Head coach Mike D’Antoni appreciates his big man battling through the sickness and giving it his best effort.
The Rockets are up 3-1 on the Jazz. They will look to close out the series in Game 5, which is on Wednesday in Houston.
D’Antoni is hopeful Capela will be close to 100 percent.
“He’s trying to battle through it,” D’Antoni said, via Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle. “I think he’s been great because he’s been able to play. Each day that passes, the virus passes and he’ll feel better. Hopefully next game, he’s back to almost 100 (percent.)”
Capela is averaging 9.5 points, 10.8 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in the series while shooting 53.1 percent from the field. In the Rockets’ Game 4 loss in Utah, Capela had just four points in 27 minutes and didn’t look explosive at all.
The Rockets will be heavy favorites to win Game 5 at home. Houston is going to need Capela to play at an elite level in the second round against the Golden State Warriors.
Hopefully, the virus Capela is dealing with goes away by the time the second round starts.
