There’s no doubt that Houston Rockets star Russell Westbrook brings big numbers across the board, but inefficiency has plagued him for most of his career.
Westbrook hit a new personal low on Sunday, as the team suffered its second straight defeat after getting blown out by the Miami Heat, 129-100.
According to StatMuse, Westbrook recorded a plus-minus -46 against the Heat, which is a personal career-worst and the worst plus-minus by any Rockets player in a game since the data was popularized in the 1996-97 season.
Although he is still averaging his usual numbers from his days with the Oklahoma City Thunder, it’s quite evident that Westbrook is still adjusting to having another ball-dominant guard alongside him in James Harden.
In six games so far, the one-time NBA MVP has been averaging 21.2 points 9.8 rebounds, 9.2 assists and 1.8 steals in 33 minutes per game.
He is actually shooting at a higher clip from the field than he had in the past seasons, draining 46.1 percent. However, his 3-point shooting has taken a dip, as he only converts on 25 percent of his attempts from distance.
Westbrook fires away 4.4 attempts from deep per game, but is only converting 1.2 of those shots.
Apart from Westbrook, Harden has also been posting unflattering records at the beginning of the year, becoming the first player to miss 50 three-pointers in the first five games of the season.
The Rockets, meanwhile, have also been inconsistent so far, going 3-3 in the 2019-20 NBA regular season.
