On Monday night, the Houston Rockets had to pick themselves by their bootstraps and face off against the Memphis Grizzlies after a humiliating loss to the Miami Heat the night before — and James Harden’s notoriously porous defense was on full display in a hilarious sequence in the second quarter.

Check out the clip for yourself.

As you can see, Harden gives up a baseline drive to Dillon Brookes of the Grizzlies. He then happens to be the recipient of a pass that never made it to him, as Brooks picked it off for another deuce in rapid succession.

The Houston Rockets came into the 2019-20 season with the burden of expectation upon them after a thrilling offseason in which they acquired Russell Westbrook at the expense of Chris Paul. The talk leading up to this season was all about the dimensions that Westbrook would bring to the team.

Though Westbrook has been his typically ebullient self, the Rockets have not been particularly impressive to start the season, as they’ve gone 3-3 over their first 6 games, including a despicable blowout against the Heat on Sunday.

The Grizzlies are looking quite feisty, with an intriguing array of young talent, led by former No. 4 overall pick Jaren Jackson Jr. and 2019 No. 2 overall pick Ja Morant .

That doesn't even include Brooks, who was taken in the second round in the 2017 draft and played in all 82 games in his rookie year. The young small forward averaged 11.0 points , 3.1 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.2 steals per game during his rookie campaign.
