Russell Westbrook received a huge honor on Thursday by being enshrined in the Oklahoma City Hall of Fame and was inducted by no less than the widely considered greatest basketball player of all time, Michael Jordan.
The former six-time NBA champion and Finals MVP said that he sees a lot of himself in the Oklahoma City Thunder point guard especially on the passion he has for the game. He also explained why he thinks Westbrook will be one of the all-time greats after his career, during his speech.
The 28-year-old Long Beach, California native recently talked about the high praise he received from His Airness and also discussed why he was not able to watch him a lot while growing up.
Westbrook is now a Jordan-brand sponsored athlete and has been interacting with the 53-year-old Charlotte Hornets‘ team owner a lot. With the technology and availability of media as well these days, he can definitely make up for lost time and watch videos and games of Jordan at his disposal. It also helps that he signed an $85.7 million contract during the summer which makes it much easier for him to subscribe to cable TV.
