At this point, it’s fair to assume that the relationship between the Buffalo Sabres and Jack Eichel will not be repaired, at least anytime soon. That’s why Eichel trade rumors just keep on coming. This time, it’s the Las Vegas Golden Knights, who are rumored to have a target on the back of the embattled 25-year-old center.

According to Frank Seravalli of the Daily Faceoff, the Sabres and the Golden Knights have been in contact, with regards to a discussion centered on a potential Eichel trade to Sin City.

“Everyone’s been holding their breath to this point, but I can tell you there’s been increased chatter between the Vegas Golden Knights and the Sabres about Jack Eichel over the last three to five days.”

It’s worth noting that the needle has not moved past anything beyond the level of mere discussions, which is understandable, given the complexity of Eichel’s situation. A team that would strike an Eichel deal with the Sabres would not have the skater right away. Eichel is still dealing with a neck injury that has yet to be completely addressed. The Sabres and the forward’s camp continue to be in a staring match as to which procedure will be used to fix Eichel’s upper-body injury.

Then there’s Eichel’s massive salary that carries a $10 million AAV until its expiration by the end of the 2025-26 season.
