The buzz around the WNBA has already reached a fever-pitch and fans are delighted to see the start of the 2024 season. One of basketball's biggest stars in New York Liberty's Sabrina Ionescu is back in action looking to lead her team to another WNBA Finals trip. She's also coming off one of the most successful debut sneaker drops we've ever seen and not too long after the Nike Sabrina 1, we'll be seeing her encore performance with the upcoming Nike Sabrina 2. Check out our Sneakers news for more upcoming releases and breaking content!

The Nike Sabrina 1 first released in September 2023 in an iconic Oregon Ducks colorway, quickly gaining traction among the hooping community and sneakerheads alike. It wasn't long before the shoes were spotted all over the NBA, with players like Tyrese Haliburton rocking custom pairs and even Bucks' Jrue Holiday lacing-up the sneaker in over 50 games this past season.

The Sabrina 1 became an instant classic, remaining as one of the most popular and best-selling sneakers in Nike's basketball line. There were initial leaks of a Nike Sabrina 2 in the works, but by now, Nike has confirmed the news and we'll be seeing the subsequent shoe drop within the next month. Official images recently released of the upcoming colorway, “Cave Purple.”

The Nike Sabrina 2 takes a similar shape to its predecessor in the Sabrina 1. The Sabrina 2 comes in another sleek, low-cut design with a Nike Zoom outsole for performance return and traction. This iteration features a wider range of materials used throughout the primarily-mesh upper. We see contrast stitching along the side panels for added support and the new stitching designs extending through the heal. The tongue and toebox are done in the same black mesh, while we see a metallic purple streak along the eyelets and onto the toe.

Some finer details include the holographic Nike Swoosh along the outsides, made to match Ionescu's “S” logo along the black tongue. The black laces are set to match, finished by a teal-blue insole with another Sabrina logo on the heel. In terms of structure and overall design, these are fairly similar to the Nike Sabrina 1 in terms of their tooling. However, it's clear Nike took some extra steps this time around to add finer details within the shoe and aim for a higher-quality product. All in all, it looks like they hit another home-run with this upcoming Nike Sabrina 2 and it'll be interesting to see what kind of colorways we'll see throughout the WNBA and NBA levels.

The official color code for the Nike Sabrina 2 will read Cave Purple/White-Black Raspberry-Violet Frost-Denim Turquoise. It's quite the palette of unique colors, but Nike did a great job in putting together a cohesive look to these. The shoes will drop on June 28, 2024 and will be released on Nike's website and most Nike retailers. The roll-out for the Nike Sabrina 1 was massive, making them an extremely affordable and accessible shoe, so we should see a similar cadence with these. They'll come with a standard retail tag of $130 and will arrive in grade school sizing as well.
