New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara garnered significant attention and headlined the team's Christmas Day encounter against the Minnesota Vikings with his Christmas-themed cleats. Wearing a green boot on his left foot and a red boot on his right foot, Kamara then violated the league's uniform policy and might potentially be called for a fine in the next few days.
Saints defensive end Cam Jordan jokingly shared how Kamara will be able to get his money back after being fined by the league, via NOLA.com‘s Jeff Nowak.
Kamara himself also reacted to his possible violation of the league policy and referred to the league as ‘The Grinch', per the New Orleans Advocate‘s Luke Johnson.
Not only his eye-catching cleats but also his overall performance on the field was enough for him to be the center of attention in the holiday tilt. Kamara came out and made history with his six rushing touchdowns which tied Chicago Cardinals running back Ernie Nevers's tally dating back to 1929, becoming the only two players to achieve the rare feat, via NFL Research on Twitter.
Even with Saints quarterback Drew Brees failing to come up with a passing touchdown in the game, Kamara's multiple scores in the endzone were enough for the Saints to edge the Vikings en route to a dominant 52-33 win.
The victory allowed the Saints to arrest a previous two-game losing skid and gain momentum just in time for the upcoming postseason. Alvin Kamara and the rest of the Saints will hope to carry over their performance as they face the Carolina Panthers for their final game of the regular season on Jan. 3.
