After five straight Pro Bowl seasons, New Orleans Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan is not yet thinking about retirement.

Jordan recently took some time to speak on the NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football” program where he was asked whether he would now consider retiring in order to pursue a career in TV, like many NFL players before him have done so. At the moment, the longtime Saints defensive end still has plenty left in the tank at this point in his career.

“I still got too much love for the game,” Jordan said. “When I decide that practice sort of hurts or practice is getting tiresome, then maybe we will discuss this. But I'm the first out to practice, I need practice. I love practice. I'm the opposite of Allen Iverson. … Give me all my reps.

“God blessed me with two hands and I'm here to bless somebody. Somebody got to get this work.”

Jordan is just coming off of a keen campaign where he once again was a reliable talent for the Saints on the defensive side of the ball; he featured in 74.3 percent of snaps on defense and recorded 12.5 sacks.

Jordan has been keeping a close eye on his career sack total, and he could elect to retire once he reaches 130 sacks.

“I'm only 107 sacks in,” Jordan said. “We'll talk about it in another 23.”

Jordan has three more seasons remaining on his current contract deal with the Saints, which include holding a cap number of at least $20 million for the next pair of campaigns.

The Saints are currently undergoing a transition period, which comes after the departures of quarterback Drew Brees and head coach Sean Payton in back-to-back years. Still, as Jordan recently noted, he sees the Saints can remain as contenders in the NFC.

The Saints missed out on the playoffs this season following their 9-8 finish in regular season play.
