The New Orleans Saints, like other teams, have been hit hard by COVID-19 in recent weeks. Not only did New Orleans play last week without their head coach Sean Payton, but the COVID outbreak has now hit their quarterback room after the latest update from Jeff Duncan of The Times Picayune.

Saints backup quarterback Trevor Siemian has reportedly tested positive for COVID-19. Siemian will join tight ends Adam Trautman and Juwan Johnson on the reserve/COVID list. Duncan reports that the identity of the other players who tested positive is not yet known.

New Orleans will now have to turn to Ian Book as their backup quarterback. Book becomes even more important with starter Taysom Hill still fighting through his finger injury.

Plus, there's the possibility that Siemian won't be the only positive test coming out of New Orleans' quarterback room, as there have been multiple instances already of the virus spreading through a position group.

For now, the Saints, who are scheduled to have an in-person practice on Thursday, are considering a virtual practice, per Duncan. Payton is still reportedly working from home as he remains in the COVID protocols.

The Saints, 7-7, will now have to try to navigate their way to a playoff spot, possibly without their head coach and a key member of their quarterback depth chart in Trevor Siemian ahead of their Week 16 contest against the Miami Dolphins.
