New Orleans Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas is holding out of camp looking for a new deal and it sounds like that could be coming soon. On Friday, the rumors were that the two sides were getting close, and according to Pro Football Talk, a new deal could be getting done at any moment.

Per a league source, the current chatter on the NFL grapevine is that the Saints and Thomas will be reaching an agreement soon. Thomas became a surprise holdout as he enters the fourth year of his rookie deal.

According to PFT, Thomas was looking for $20 million a year for his new contract and the Saints were only offering around $19 million. Saints general manager Mickey Loomis said on Monday he had hope a deal would get done and right now they were just dealing with the business of football.

“It’s always been the business of football,” Loomis said via Nola.com. “I’d like to be able to say, ‘Hey, we’re close, we’re not close.’ These things, it’s not always just financial. There’s structure and there’s guarantee. There’s a lot of moving elements. Hopefully we’ll get this resolved fairly quickly, but not yet.”

For every day that Thomas misses from training camp, he is subject to a $40,000 fine, but a lot of times NFL teams will forgive that so chances are he won't have to pay any fines.

Thomas is one of the best receivers in the league, so the hope is that a deal can get done so he will rejoin the team and get back on the field.
