Since the Miami Dolphins placed the franchise tag onto star wide receiver Jarvis Landry, the team has made it clear that he is available on the trade market. This has created a shift in the league with one of the most talented players at the position being an acquirable asset.

However, the interest from several teams has only waned in the days that have followed the Dolphins placing a $16.2 million franchise tag on Landry for the 2018 season. According to Josh Katzenstein of NOLA.com, the New Orleans Saints are out of the picture as a possible landing spot for the 25-year-old.

The Miami Dolphins are trying to trade former LSU wide receiver Jarvis Landry, but the Saints are not among the potential suitors for a deal, according to a source with knowledge of the trade discussions.

The Saints had previously expressed some interest in acquiring Landry earlier this week, which has likely quickly lessen with the team now in the midst of contract negotiations with star quarterback Drew Brees. The 39-year-old's deal is set to expire on March 18 with an $18 million salary cap hit in bonuses that could come into effect on March 14. This put the team on an accelerated timetable toward working to having a new contract in place for Brees well ahead of that date.

New Orleans has joined the Carolina Panthers as the latest team to be out of the trade market for Landry this offseason. Each team appears to have their focus toward using their salary cap space toward addressing other aspects of their respective rosters first.

Landry is coming off a career-best campaign where he recorded a career-high 112 catches for 987 receiving yards along with nine touchdowns. This has pushed him to earn his third straight Pro Bowl selection while becoming the fastest in the league to reach 400 career receptions over his first four seasons in the league. Things on this end could look to pick up once the free agent market begins to sort out with the available talent finding their landing spot for the 2018 NFL season.
