The New Orleans Saints are undoubtedly avid fans of players that can be used in a variety of ways on offense and they added another one on Friday. According to multiple reports, New Orleans has signed offensive weapon Ty Montgomery.

Back in 2015, Montgomery began his career as a wide receiver, being taken in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft. However, as the Green Bay Packers found out, Montgomery was at his best when he wasn't at a set position.

Instead, the Packers allowed Montgomery to play running back and wide receiver, utilizing his talents in a multitude of ways. Altogether, in his first three seasons in Green Bay, Montgomery rushed for 744 yards and six touchdowns on the ground.

He also hauled in 82 receptions for 657 yards and three touchdowns. But after eventually sputtering out in Green Bay, Montgomery was traded to the Baltimore Ravens during the 2018 NFL season.

Then, after a brief stint in Baltimore, Montgomery would sign with the New York Jets last offseason in free agency. Due to Le'Veon Bell carrying the majority of the workload, Montgomery had a limited role with the Jets. The former third-round pick totaled just 193 yards from scrimmage in 2019.

Nevertheless, the Saints have shown that they excel in utilizing players that can play multiple positions. Even though he's listed as a quarterback, Taysom Hill has contributed as a tight end and a special teams weapon. While Montgomery has had a rough stretch over the past couple of seasons, he could possibly reach his potential in New Orleans.
