EA Sports kicked off their reveal by debuting their top-10 quarterback ratings for Madden NFL 21. While the Baltimore Ravens' Lamar Jackson and Arizona Cardinals' Kyler Murray headlined the speed ratings for the position, the New Orleans Saints' Taysom Hill was not overlooked.
Taysom Hill was rated as the third-fasted quarterback in the game with 90 speed, via Twitter:
Taysom Hill's speed in the game should hardly come as any surprise considering the mobility he displayed during the 2019 campaign. This helped him edge out other notable, dual-threat quarterbacks such as Las Vegas Raiders' Marcus Mariota and Los Angeles Chargers' Tyrod Taylor.
Although Taysom Hill had etched out an integral role for himself as a Swiss Army knife in head coach Sean Payton's offense, there had been plenty of speculation regarding his long-term future as a bonafide franchise quarterback in New Orleans. While his status as the starter may be tied to whenever quarterback Drew Brees decides to retire, the team doubled down by signing him to a two-year deal worth $16.3 million on top of the first-round restricted free agent tender.
As evidenced by his efforts in the postseason, Taysom Hill's versatile skill set provides the Saints with a unique edge that the offense does not have with Brees under center. Payton has acknowledged the prospect of him taking on an increased workload this season. Not only would it help further his case as the successor to Breed, it should also allow him to either maintain or increase his Madden ratings as the season goes on.
