The Kansas City Chiefs and free agent safety Tyrann Mathieu have both said all of the right things this offseason. Mathieu and the Chiefs each expressed a desire for the free agent to return to Kansas City next season, though there was a belief among pundits that the franchise wouldn't be able to afford both their free agents between offensive lineman Orlando Brown and Mathieu. Brown was recently franchise tagged and a report surfaced on Monday saying that Mathieu would test free agency. The star safety's latest actions will excite fans of the New Orleans Saints, as spotted by Brendan Ertle and whodattnation.

This is very exciting for Saints fans. Tyrann Mathieu responded to a post by TheSaintZone saying that there were rumors of Mathieu possibly being linked to the Saints as a free agent.

Of course, the Saints already have one free agent safety of their own in Marcus Williams, who could potentially depart if he and the franchise cannot come to a long-term agreement on a deal. Williams, who was graded as one of the better safeties in the NFL, would be a tough loss for New Orleans were he to leave via free agency.

However, potentially replacing Williams with Mathieu, who is a three-time All Pro and Pro Bowler, would be a best-case scenario for the Saints, who already fielded one of the league's better defenses in 2021.

Judging by Mathieu's actions, it sounds like he's interested in returning to his hometown of New Orleans. The question is, will the Saints be interested in Mathieu?
