New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees suffered fractured ribs and a collapsed lung in their most recent matchup against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 10 proceedings. Despite the severity of his injury, he still remained optimistic and assured his followers on Instagram that he will be back on the gridiron in no time.

The veteran quarterback sustained the injury when 49ers defensive tackle Kentavius Street was called for a personal foul on a play and directly landed on top of Brees. He missed two plays after the hit but returned to hand a 2-yard touchdown for Saints running back Alvin Kamara.
Brees went on to play for the rest of the second frame but was ultimately pulled at halftime and posted 76 passing yards on an 8/13 passing completion and a touchdown for the Saints before he was ruled out for the remainder of the game. Backup playmaker Jameis Winston was eventually slotted in on the field and generated 63 passing yards on 6-of-10 passes completed.
Kamara stepped up for his team’s offense and rushed 15 yards on eight carries and had two scoring drives. He also contributed with 83 receiving yards on seven catches and a receiving touchdown for the New Orleans-based squad.
The Saints eventually ran away with a lopsided 27-13 win against the depleted 49ers en route to improving their record to 7-2 and regain the pole position in the NFC South division.
In lieu of Drew Brees’ injury, Saints head coach Sean Payton hasn’t named a starting quarterback for their Week 11 action against the Atlanta Falcons thus far. He remains to have a choice to go with either Winston or the versatile Taysom Hill under center to potentially stretch their current winning streak to seven games.
