Stephen Curry has been the heart and soul of the Golden State Warriors ever since he was drafted 7th overall by the team in the 2009 NBA Draft. His dedication and unique style of play has contributed to the Dubs’ success in recent years. Though The Chef has achieved greatness in his 12-year tenure in the league, he also encountered major setbacks in his illustrious career. In this list we’ll take a look at the scariest on-court injuries Curry experienced throughout his career.

5.) Curry’s hard fall (Game 4, 2015 Western Conference Championship)

Stephen Curry landed hard on his head and his back as he went after Trevor Ariza’s shot in the paint. Though Curry managed to come back later in that game, it was still a scary, scary sight for every Dubs fan. The next game, Steph played as if nothing happened and scored 26 points to send the Rockets back home and give the Warriors a trip to the 2015 NBA Finals

4.)   Steph’s leg got crushed (March 23, 2018 vs. Hawks)

JaVale McGee lost his footing after he went for Mike Muscala’s shot, unluckily for Steph, the big man landed on his left leg, the result is a left MCL sprain for The Chef. Curry limped off the court as he was visibly in agony. He would miss the 2017-18 season’s last 10 Games and the entire First Round of the Western Conference Playoffs. Curry returned in the second round and delivered superb performances in the playoffs. The Dubs would later sweep the Cavaliers to claim their 3rd title in four years.

3.) Tailbone injury (March 17, 2021 vs. Rockets)

Just a year removed from his long absence due to a hand injury, Curry once again suffered another stepback. Steph launched a three from the top corner and tripped, it may seem like a harmless fall, but his awkward landing on the metal stairs actually resulted in a tailbone contusion. It was a big loss for the currently 9th place Warriors as they hope to earn a spot in the top 8 of the Western Conference.

2.) Hand injury (October 30, 2021 vs. Suns)

The Warriors suffered yet another big blow in their 2019-20 campaign with Curry’s hand injury. Klay Thompson was already lost for the season with a torn ACL and Kevin Durant decided to leave for the Nets in the free agency period. Steph drove to the basket and collided with the Suns’ big man, Aron Baynes. Unluckily the Center landed on Curry which resulted to the aforementioned injury. He would miss three months as the Warriors piled up losses during that span and finished with the worst record in the NBA during that season.

1.)  Curry’s ankle setback (2011 season)

During the strike shortened 2011-12 season, Curry suffered an injury to his right that limited him to only 26 games. He underwent ankle surgery on April 25 2012 as he missed the remainder of the season. The Dubs took their chances on Steph before the 2012-13 season’s start and gave him a four-year contract extension. It was worth it and he became one of the league’s top stars since then. Nine years later who would have thought that he’ll be a three-time Champion, two-time MVP and a seven-time All-Star after that career threatening injury.
