Heading into the final year of his four-year, $40 million deal with the Seattle Seahawks, there is much uncertainty surrounding All-Pro safety Earl Thomas's long-term future with the franchise. He has been linked to various trade rumors while he has voiced his desire to both play for the team and keep his options open.

The further along the situation has persisted, the more murky things have become for the long haul. According to Brady Henderson of ESPN, his longtime teammate Bobby Wagner took the time during a recent radio interview to voice his support for the 29-year-old.

Seahawks linebacker Bobby Wagner concluded an interview on 710 ESPN Seattle this morning with a message of appreciation to teammate Earl Thomas, who has been absent from the team's offseason program as he seeks a new contract. Said Wagner: “Before we get off, I would like to take this time to shout out to Earl Thomas. I think he’s an amazing player, I think he’s an amazing person, he’s a hall of famer, and just let him know that we’re over here wishing for the best in that situation and we’re thinking about him, and I just want him to know that from this end.”

Wagner is the latest teammate to air their support for Thomas as now current San Francisco 49ers cornerback Richard Sherman recently did the same while stating he believes that he deserves a new lucrative deal. It is clear that the Pro Bowl safety has endeared himself well to players that have played alongside him.

What has made this situation troubling is that the Seahawks have yet to fully address it in any compacity. There is a desire from Thomas to remain with the team, but the front office hasn't worked toward hammering out a new long-term deal to keep him in Seattle for the long haul.

Despite nagging injuries, he is still playing at an elite level as one of the top safeties in the league that could maintain that form for the duration of a new deal. Ultimately, it may just be a matter of time before the Seahawks make a decision on what they plan to do with Thomas.
