The Seattle Seahawks were edged out by the Arizona Cardinals in what turned out to be an enthralling encounter on Sunday evening. The Seahawks could not hold on to the lead, as they eventually fell to the Cardinals, 37-34 in overtime. To make matters worse, Seattle also lost running back Chris Carson in the first half due to what has been diagnosed as a mid-foot sprain.

Seattle coach Pete Carroll provided an update on Carson's injury, who himself is expected to undergo an MRI on Monday:

“We don’t know until we get an MRI what that means or what the extent of it is,” Carroll said, via Adam Jude of The Seattle Times.

While initial reports state that Carson's injury is not serious, the MRI should be able to clear him of any significant damage on his ankle. The 26-year-old was forced to exit the game early in the first half, and was initially tagged as questionable to return. He made his way back to the sideline, but was never able to reenter the game.

In his stead, Carlos Hyde stepped up for the Seahawks, carrying the ball on 15 separate occasions for a 68-yard gain and a touchdown. Hyde could be in store for a start against the Niners next week, and perhaps moving forward if Carson is forced to miss time.

Sunday's loss was Seattle's first taste of defeat of the season, as they sit precariously at the top of the NFC West with a 5-1 record.
