The Seattle Seahawks are still looking for their first win of the 2018 NFL season. However, head coach Pete Carroll feels there is a chance that they will be without safety Earl Thomas in Week 3.

Thomas did not participate in practice Friday due to personal reasons. According to NFL Network's Steve Wyche, Carroll indicated that his status for Sunday may be up in the air at this point:

“We'll see how he's doing and make sure he's okay,” Carroll said. “He's got some other stuff going on. That's what we're working on. It's personal. That's why we're not going to talk about it.”

Needless to say, the whole situation is rather perplexing. Thomas had held out this offseason in search of a new contract. However, he returned prior to the start of the 2018 campaign and has taken on his usual workload through the first two games. This essentially confirms the notion that his absence was not injury-related.

It should be noted that the Seahawks square off against the Dallas Cowboys this week. Many may remember last year when Thomas told Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett to “come get me.” Dallas has since been pegged as the frontrunners to acquire the All-Pro's services. Of course, the notion that he would refuse to play against his potential future team is still a bit far-fetched.

Thomas is the last of a dying breed for the Seahawks as one of the few remaining members of their Super Bowl squad. However, all signs point to his inevitable departure this season.
