Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson gave the front office a deadline to give him a new contract extension. Unfortunately, it does not seem as though Seattle will abide by it.

Wilson made it clear that he would like an extension to be done by April 15th. According to Jason La Canfora of CBS sports, it is not likely to happen.

Very little chance Russell Wilson and the Seahawks strike a deal by the QBs Monday deadline.

This is certainly not the most encouraging update from Seattle. There is no question that Wilson is one of the few elite quarterbacks in the game. More importantly, there are few offenses that rely as heavily on him as the Seahawks do. It is clear that he is hoping to finally be paid as such.

Of course, the prospect of Wilson being traded is still extremely far-fetched at this point. Teams like the Green Bay Packers and Atlanta Falcons have committed to paying quarterbacks of his caliber rather handsomely and the deals were done without there ever being a deadline. Unfortunately, Seattle finds themselves in a different predicament than those aforementioned teams.

It is no secret that the Seahawks have ushered in a bit of a rebuild after parting ways with most of their veteran, key players last offseason. Perhaps they still have yet to determine if Wilson is part of their long-term plans. If both sides are unable to come to terms on a deal by Wilson's deadline, Seattle could very well risk having to part ways with him in the near future.
