The Seattle Seahawks decided to bring back Byron Maxwell last season following his release from the Miami Dolphins. And after a seven-game audition, the Seahawks appear keen to keep Maxwell around longer, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports.
As teams try to hold onto their own players, two to watch: The #Redskins are in negotiations with OLB Junior Galette and the #Seahawks are in talks to bring back CB Byron Maxwell. Both of those talks are ongoing.
Maxwell, 30, spent his first four years in Seattle after being drafted in the sixth round and rose to stardom as part of the Legion of Boom. He left in 2015 to sign a huge free-agent deal with the Philadelphia Eagles. He was then traded just one season into his six-year deal to the Miami Dolphins. He eventually fell out of favor in south Florida as well and was released shortly after the start of the 2017 season.

He quickly worked his way back into a starting gig opposite Shaquill Griffin as he finished with 38 tackles, an interception, a forced fumble and seven passes defended in his seven games.
The Seahawks clearly need some help at corner this offseason following the release of Sherman and Jeremy Lane. While Maxwell is now in his 30s and is not exactly an outstanding top-line starter, he is at least a capable veteran with intimate knowledge of the Seahawks defense. It wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world if the Seahawks kept him around as a solid option to call upon.
