Earlier this week, Chris Simms of NBC Sports reported that the Seattle Seahawks attempted to trade Russell Wilson for the No. 1 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. Despite the uproar he caused, Simms doubled down on his report and now says Seattle was aiming to select Josh Allen with the No. 1 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.

Seeing that Wilson is still with the Seahawks, they didn't pull the trigger for the No. 1 pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. Plus, with it being Wilson, it's hard to believe that Seattle would be willing to part ways with the All-Pro quarterback.

But according to Simms, the Seahawks were very close to moving Wilson in hopes to land Allen in the draft. Of course, back in the 2018 NFL Draft, Allen was taken with the No. 7 pick in the draft by the Buffalo Bills.

In addition, the No. 1 pick of the 2018 NFL Draft was Baker Mayfield, who was taken by the Cleveland Browns. Therefore, for the Seahawks to acquire the No. 1 pick, they would've have needed to negotiate a deal with the Browns.

However, Hue Jackson — the head coach of the Browns in 2018 — refuted the reports that Cleveland attempted to trade for Wilson. Even though Jackson refuted the reports, he could have been out of the loop of what the Browns were doing. Jackson was fired by Cleveland halfway through the 2018 season.

Of all of the players in the NFL, Wilson seems to be one of the players that is absolutely not tradable. If Simms' reports are true, then Seattle nearly made a grave mistake trading him to get Allen. While Allen has shown potential, it's hard to believe he'd be nearly as good as Wilson in his career.
