Serie A season is in full force and, on Sunday, Stadio Olimpico will host one of the biggest derbies in the continent. The Rome Derby between Lazio and Roma has lost some of its touch, due to the fact that both teams did not enjoy much success in terms of winning titles in the last couple of seasons. However, the pure passion the fans of both teams have is enough to keep all the neutrals locked to the TV when the game starts. Nonetheless, in this post we're doing our Lazio-Roma predictions.

There were some iconic moments in the past, like Roma legend Francesco Totti scoring a goal and taking a selfie with the fans of his club. While it would be very ungrateful to ask for these kinds of mythic moments, this should still be a good game. Roma started the season with three wins and a surprise loss to Verona in the last game. On the other hand, Lazio had a slower start, with two wins, a draw, and a loss. The teams are divided by two points, so both of them will be looking to get ahead of each other.

Here are three Lazio-Roma predictions for the Serie A Rome Derby on Sunday!

Lazio-Roma Predictions – Serie A

Will Tammy Abraham find better form in the Derby?

Roma has scored in bunches this year. They scored three in the first game versus Fiorentina, four against Salernitana, two against Sassuolo, and two in a loss versus Verona. In the Europa League, they put five past CSKA Sofia and with four different scorers. That is all after losing Edin Dzeko, a man who scored 77 league goals for the team from Rome. They brought in Tammy Abraham in the summer, but while he did score a couple, it is still not satisfactory for what they expect in Roma.

Abraham is a peculiar player, as he always performed well when he was not in Chelsea, but could not find his footing in the English giants. Thus, he made a permanent move to Roma this summer and he was supposed to be the direct replacement for the Bosnian. In the six games played, he scored only two goals and more is expected from him.

Thankfully for Roma and Abraham, Lorenzo Pellegrini, Jordan Vertout, and Stephen El Shaarawy were able to carry the load for the squad. Pellegrini and Vertout have three goals each, while the former Milan player added one goal. There is a lot of attacking talent in this squad and if Abraham can find his form, they would be a great, attacking team to watch.

Will Lazio return to winning ways?

After winning their first two games against Empoli and Spezia, Lazio hit a brick wall against Milan and lost 2-0. That clearly left a mark on the squad, as they lost two points in a 2-2 draw with Cagliari, a team widely expected to be fighting relegation for the rest of the season. Even in that game, Lazio had to save a point, with Danilo Cataldi scoring with eight minutes to go, to give Lazio a draw.

They confirmed their poor run of form with a defeat to Galatasaray in the Europa League and Lazio seems to be entering a crisis. However, when it comes to derbies, they can be season changers. Lazio players, led by captain Ciro Immobile and midfield stud Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, will be motivated to turn the early season around by winning in their biggest match of the year.

The blue club from Rome has a ton of talent in their squad. Other than Immobile and SMS, Felipe Anderson and Pedro are great, veteran wings who will be supported by another veteran in the middle of the park, Lucas Leiva. By all accounts, Lazio is better than the 2-2 shock draw and 2-0 loss they had in their last two weeks, and when the motivation of a derby of this stature is added, Lazio players will be gunning for a comeback to winning ways.

The atmosphere at the stadium will be electric

These two teams actually share the Olimpico, the Olympic stadium in Rome. Thus, the crowd will be mixed between the Roma and Lazio Ultras, and with restrictions for COVID-19 easing off in Italy, the atmosphere should be truly great. Both of the fanbases have a lot of hatred for each other and the competition on the stands of the Olimpico could, at moments, be better than what we see on the field.

Regardless of which team has more support, it is great to see fans back at the stadiums. While not all atmospheres are great, this game should be a tutorial for all fans across the world on supporting your club. Both of these fanbases waited over a year to support their boys and this should be their grand return.

Nonetheless, how do you feel about our Lazio-Roma predictions for this Serie A game?
