Shaheen Holloway became one of the NCAA's biggest legends this year after leading the Saint Peter's Peacocks to the Elite Eight. They were easily the tournament darlings, as they played fast and had incredible upsets during the season. However, after their run, Holloway was immediately recruited by his alma mater Seton Hall.

During Shaheen Holloway's introductory press conference for Seton Hall, a heartwarming thing happened. All fifteen of Holloway's players from Saint Peter's were in attendance during the press conference, and they all applauded their former coach before the start of his speech. (via ESPN)

Holloway's Peacocks were the underdog story of the NCAA Tournament. From their insane upset over second-seed Kentucky to their bizarre but charming home arena name, fans absolutely loved to root for them. However, as their run went on, rumors of their coach moving to Seton Hall started to grow louder.

While some college basketball fans might be upset at Holloway for “abandoning” his team, in reality, this was a move that was a long time coming. Holloway's connection with Seton Hall is unbreakable: he and his family graduated from this university, and he played for their collegiate team. He also was an assistant coach for the Pirates prior to his Saint Peter's gig.

During that press conference, Holloway spoke candidly about what coaching for Seton Hall means to him:

“I can't mess this up and I'm not going to mess this up,” he said. “When you are home, it's too important. It's a difference. It's a big difference, like you put more time, more effort, more sweat, more tears. This is everything to get an opportunity to coach at my alma mater. I'm not going to mess up this opportunity.”

Those are the words of a man who badly wanted to give back to his former school. Shaheen Holloway is already a Seton Hall legend in his own right: he was part of a Pirates team that also went on their own upset run in the tournament. Elevating this program to greater heights, though, will cement his status as an all-time great for the university.
